Big Bang Theory Star Battles Gremlin Monsters in The Cleanse Trailer

Love Gremlins? Adore The Big Bang Theory? Then you’re definitely going to want to settle in for The Cleanse. Johnny Galecki takes a rare turn on the big screen in this 80s-style monster movie that is sure to tickle your spine and punch you in the gut, weirdly going out of its way to make you cringe in the process. This is not for the squeamish.

Johnny Galecki (TV’s Big Bang Theory) plays Paul Berger, an unemployed, down and out, heartbroken man searching for happiness.  When Paul sees an ad for a spiritual retreat promising to restart your life, he immediately signs up, hoping to cleanse himself and fix his broken existence. But after only a few days, he discovers the cleanse is releasing more than just everyday toxins…A lot more.

Also starring Anna Friel, plus Oliver Platt and Academy Award Winner Anjelica Huston (Best Supporting Actress, Prizzi’s Honor, 1985) as the leaders of the retreat, The Cleanse is a darkly humorous, weird, and soulful fantasy that examines the inner demons in all of us. Written and Directed by Bobby Miller, Johnny Galecki also produces. He had his to say about the movie.

The Cleanse is about a group of people who are unhappy in their lives. They go on one of these kind of trendy retreats that are quite the fad now, not really knowing what to expect, and not really knowing what they hope to be the result, but they want, and probably need, change in their lives. And so, they are given a cleanse on their first day, at this retreat, and what the cleanse does is expels all the toxins from your body. What they don’t know, and what they soon learn, is that those toxins form into your own personal demon, your own personal pain in an embodied form, literally.”

Johnny Galecki is so busy with The Big Bang Theory that he hasn’t had much time to devote to the big screen over the past decade. So getting to seem him in theaters this summer is an unexpected treat. But as the actor tells it, this is just one project he couldn’t turn down. He says this about taking on the project.

“I thought the film was fun and fantastical, and I hadn’t read anything like it before,” he says. “Yet, at the same time, it was very nostalgic of things that I had seen and loved growing up, like Gremlins, [and] other things that I loved as I got a little bit older, like The Brood, or even Rosemary’s Baby, a lot of [John] Carpenter films.”

An interesting note for lovers of old school creature features like Critters and Ghoulies, the monsters in The Cleanse are all practical effects, with some CGI embellishes thrown into make them just a little more realistic. Galecki explains the experience working on set.

“Early on, Bobby and Jordan Horowitz (another of the film’s producers) bonded over the idea of using practical effects. Nobody has anything against CGI as an additive. I think we all see the benefit of digital effects. But I think audiences have missed seeing these puppets, I think they miss seeing the sweat and the fingerprints. We used CGI as a sweetener, very, very subtly, in expressions in the eyes and things of that nature. Otherwise, we had real puppeteers there, whether they were under the table with their hand in the puppet or whether they were within the puppet, as the creatures grow bigger. It was a blast; it was really fun. Oddly, when you spend 12 hours a day with these puppets, they become little personalities. They just feel like fellow castmates, as absurd as that sounds.”

Galecki couldn’t quite believe the cast he’d been paired with. Of the humans working alongside him, perhaps he was most excited about Anjelica Huston as one of the retreat’s organizers. He goes onto say this to Entertainment Weekly.

“Anjelica’s fantastic. Everyone knows she’s an amazing, gifted actress. But she’s also a lot of fun to hang around. Bobby and I were having our initial meeting with her at her house in Venice, and we weren’t even sure if she’d even read the script yet, but we knew that we very much hoped that she would read it, love it, and agree to do the movie. As soon as we got there, she told us that she had read the script, she loved the character. She immediately started showing us wardrobe ideas for her character and poured us a flute of champagne. It was like, ‘Oh, I guess Angelica’s in. Alright, let’s go shoot a movie!'”

So, has Johnny ever submitted himself to a real cleanse? He says this.

“I’ve done that lemon and cayenne thing, and I’ve done a few fasts and things of that nature. I think with anything like that, if you approach it with a healthy goal in mind, it’s probably a good thing. I’m not giving any cleanse or fasts any commercial or anything like that. But I certainly haven’t had the experience that Paul and the other characters had!”

You can experience The Cleanse for yourself on May 4. We have the trailer for you courtesy of Sony right here, along with the poster that shows off one of the little monsters at the heart of this wickedly delightful Drive-In thriller.

LeBron James signs four-year, $153.3 million deal with Lakers

Today it’s not Kim Kardashian for once who is breaking the internet but rather NBA all-star LeBron James.

Earlier today it was revealed by Life and Fame,  that LeBron James had singed a four-year deal with the Lakers worth a wopping $153.3 million.

The announcement was made through his agency, Klutch Sports Group, which announced the deal as $154 million (clearly the agency doesn’t realize you are suppose to round down when you have a .3 decimal!)

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst revealed that the fourth year is a player option. It is the longest deal James has signed since inking a six-year contract with the Miami Heat in 2010. His previous three deals were three years or shorter.

“Words do not express the meaning and the feeling this accomplishment brought to the people of Northeast Ohio,” Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert said in a lengthy statement thanking James. “None of this would have happened if LeBron James did not agree to come back home and lead the Cavaliers to the promised land.

“LeBron is a family man, first. We wish his kids, his wife, Savannah, his mother, Gloria, and LeBron himself nothing but the best in the years and decades ahead. LeBron’s connection to Akron, Cleveland and all of Northeast Ohio will most certainly endure as his commitment to the region and his support of many important causes has been impactful to so many kids and families.

“LeBron, you came home and delivered the ultimate goal. Nothing but appreciation and gratitude for everything you put into every moment you spent in a Cavaliers uniform. We look forward to the retirement of the famous #23 Cavs jersey one day down the line …”

Drita D’avanzo Threatens to “Smack The F**k” Out Of Farrah Abraham For Slamming Her! – The Real Housewives

Don’t mess with Mob Wives!

Drita D’avanzo is a badass and it’s clearly depicted on Mob Wives. During her time on the show, she dealt with her anger management issues. She made it known that growing up, she had gotten into a lot of fights with people. Yes, physical fights. As she said on the show, when she beats people up, the ambulances come for them. While she was filming Mob Wives, she got into a lot of altercations and fights on camera even. Drita is not someone you would want to have a problem with. Recently, Drita was in Atlantic City for an appearance on June 28th. Farrah Abraham who was on Teen Moms, was also there. Apparently Farrah acted cool to Drita in person, but then Farrah woke up the next morning tweeting nasty things about Drita. Now Drita is firing back, of course, she has to defend herself. It’s an all out feud!

Farrah called the Mob Wives star a “has been” and accused her of being on drugs. Drita slammed Farrah on Instagram, writing, “#onsight #farrahabraham #onsight” and in the video Drita said how Farrah used to be on Teen Moms and “then she became a hooker or some sh*t.” Drita said, “Listen, I don’t care, it’s irrelevant. I don’t care that she’s a d***kless unemployed blow job. As long as you’re not my kid, it doesn’t bother me. However; what does bother me is when I’m hanging out with you and you’re nice and you’re cool and then I wake up in the morning to hear that you’re ripping me to shreds on your IG.”

Drita also added, “I don’t know who you dealt with in the past but you got the wrong motherf**ker. I no longer assault anybody, OK? Because the last time someone tried to test me, they ended up putting me in jail. You’re not worth it. However, I might have to make an exception. But I will tell you one thing, I’m not gonna close fist punch your face in, I’m going to open hand smack the f**k out of you, straight up, on sight, just so you know.”

About an hour later, Farrah responded on Twitter. She wrote, “F**king low class trash dusted up nobody show up and work you have no work ethic and act like a criminal say what you want about me so you feel better about how pathetic you are! Use me for press haha your a loser go get a real job my lawyer will be contacting you Psycho.”

Then she posted a photo of her with Drita at dinner in AC, with the clown emoji covering Drita’s face. Farrah wrote, “Dinner & Atlantic City was fabulous I hope the clown fixes her drug problem & her abusive relationship. Girl I’m rootin for ya but have self control & don’t threaten my safety such a bad look on top of not working no wonder you don’t get paid.”

Big Ang’s sister, Janine Detore, showed her support for Drita on Instagram. She also suggested that Andy Cohen should create a Real Housewives of Staten Island! She wrote, “@farrah_abraham TRY IT #yourteethwillbehandedtoyou @dritadavanzoladyboss I got your back my friend. How dare you !!!! @bravoandy @bravotv we need REAL HOUSEWIVES OF STATEN ISLAND WE’LL SHOW YOU REAL WOMEN.”

I’m Team Drita! All the way! I can’t believe that Farrah had the nerve to slam Drita on social media and then say that she’s going to have her lawyer call Drita? Farrah started it, Drita didn’t say anything nasty to her. I don’t like when people are two faced, so I completely agree with Drita on this. Drita said that Farrah acted cool in real life, then the next day wakes up and posts nasty remarks online. I don’t think any of Farrah’s accusations are true. I think it’s her way of getting media attention, which is ironic that she claimed that’s what Drita is doing. I think what Farrah did was beyond rude and immature. Drita is not one to mess with. PS: Drita, when the Mob Wives reboot comes back, please be on it!
