Eric Trump Just Escalated His Dad’s War On The Free Press With An Awful Tweet

Poor Eric Trump. He didn’t even get invited to his brother’s secret meeting to collude with Russia.

Eric will not be left out of the spotlight however. Today, he saw a tweet from David Martosko, a pretend reporter dubbed “Trump’s de facto comms director” during the campaign, and had to comment (tweets below).

Martosko was disgraced in 2013 after posing as a radical animal rights activist and erroneously online and accusing a Democratic Senator of a sex scandal that turned out to be fake.

Nevertheless, when Martosko launched an attack on the real media, it resonated with the president’s second son and he quote tweeted this:

Citing Martosko as an authority of journalism or integrity is like using the Hindenberg as a benchmark for air safety. For Eric Trump however, it was a chance to escalate his father’s un-American war on the free press.

The truth is, any time the Trumps attack the media, it has nothing to do with facts or honesty, only a lack of favorability toward themselves. With the rampant corruption and bigotry that have become ever-present hallmarks of the Trump regime and family, they are unlikely to be happy with any journalists who retain a shred of integrity.

Defaming hard working reporters isn’t only un-American, it’s dangerous. Our Founders enshrined the free press in the Constitution because they new it is sometimes the only thing standing between tyranny and the people’s right to the truth.

Lucky for the American public, journalism going strong. The Trumps’ problem is not with the press, its with the truth. To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of journalism’s death are greatly exaggerated.
