Former Packer Ahman Green arrested on suspicion of child abuse

Former Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green was arrested in Wisconsin on suspicion of child abuse , the Green Bay Press Gazette reported Monday morning.

The Brown County sheriff’s office confirmed to the paper that it was investigating the case but did not provide any further details.

Green, a four-time Pro Bowler who last played in 2009, is the top rusher in Packers history and a member of the team’s Hall of Fame after rushing for 8,322 yards over eight seasons. He also played for the Seahawks and Texans.

Green is still very visible in the Green Bay area, having once owned part of indoor football’s Green Bay Blizzard and maintaining a consistent schedule of public appearances.

Vin Scully: I’ll Never Watch NFL Again Due to Anthem Protests

Vin Scully says he’ll NEVER watch a single down of NFL football again … and it’s all thanks to the players protesting during the national anthem.

The legendary Dodgers announcer was speaking at an event in Pasadena on Saturday when he was asked about the controversy surrounding commissioner Roger Goodell, team owners and players … and Scully didn’t hold back.

“I have only one personal thought, really. … and I am so disappointed. I used to love, during the fall and winter, to watch the NFL on Sunday.”

Scully — who spent one year in the Navy — adds … “but I have overwhelming respect and admiration for anyone who puts on a uniform and goes to war. So the only thing I can do in my little way is not to preach. I will never watch another NFL game.”

NFL’s Malcolm Jenkins: Kaepernick Invited to Owners’ Meeting, Didn’t Show (UPDATE)

1:08 PM PT — Kaepernick’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, says his client was NOT officially invited to the meeting by team or league officials, but is “open to future participation on these important discussions.”

Colin Kaepernick was invited to NFL headquarters to talk about social issues with team owners … but decided not to show up to the meeting, Malcolm Jenkins told the media on Tuesday.

Several players sat down with owners in Manhattan today to discuss ways to promote positive change … and both sides agreed it was a step in the right direction, but there’s more work to do.

“Those conversations will continue. That dialogue will continue,” Jenkins said.

“As players, we’ll continue to do the work in our communities. We feel like that’s the most American thing to do is to use your platform to influence with the stage that we have.”

As for the national anthem demonstrations … Jenkins says it wasn’t the focus of the meeting.

LeBron James Just Torched Trump Over His Attacks On Black NFL Players

Basketball megastar LeBron James addressed the President’s inflammatory attacks on black athletes who kneel during the national anthem during the NBA’s Media Day, praising former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick for taking a stand against racism and police brutality.

“I salute Colin Kaepernick for being as powerful as he was, and being the one that had to fall on the sword unfortunately, and I hate that … I wish I owned an NFL team right now, I’d sign him today.”

He didn’t shy away from addressing the President again, just two days after calling him a “bum” in a viral Twitter post:

“It wasn’t a name call … it was like ‘You bum!’ Me and my friends call each other that all the time. I’m not his friend though.

The thing that frustrated me and pissed me off is that he used the sports platform to divide us. Sport and sports is so amazing, what sports can do for everyone, no matter the shape, or size, or race, or ethnicity, or religion — or whatever. People find teams, people find payers, people find colors because of sport and they just gravitate toward that and it makes people so happy. And it brings people together like none other.

But James saved his most powerful condemnation for last, calling out the President for failing to rise to the responsibilities of the office and for failing to adequately govern this nation.

“He doesn’t understand the power that he has for being the leader of this beautiful country. He doesn’t understand how many kids, no matter the race, look up to the President of the United States for guidance, for leadership, for words of encouragement.

The people run this country, not one individual — and damn sure not him.”

We couldn’t agree more.
