Bobby “The Brain” Heenan passed away at the age of 72 Sunday due to organ failure caused by throat cancer, according to his obituary in the Tampa Bay Times.

Heenan received the cancer diagnosis in 2002 and had been in remission since 2004, according to his daughter Jessica Solt. “It was just his time,” Solt told the Tampa Bay Times.

Heenan, whose real name was Raymond Louis Heenan, is widely regarded as the greatest manager in WWE history. Wrestlers he managed were dubbed members of the Heenan Family, which included the likes of Big John Studd, King Kong Bundy, “Ravishing” Rick Rude, “Mr. Perfect” Curt Hennig, the Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard), and Harley Race. He also managed the top enemies of Hulk Hogan, most notably King Kong Bundy at WrestleMania II and Andre The Giant at WrestleMania III.

Heenan, who was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2004, also had a successful run as a WWE commentator. His infectious personality created wildly entertaining segments with fellow WWE Hall of Famers Gorilla Monsoon and “Mean” Gene Okerlund. He also had a brief stint as host of “The Bobby Heenan Show” on USA Network.

Wrestlers past and present posted heartfelt reactions to Heenan’s death. During last night’s Raw, the WWE aired an incredible tribute to Heenan, which can be viewed above.

NFL’s Malcolm Jenkins: Kaepernick Invited to Owners’ Meeting, Didn’t Show (UPDATE)

1:08 PM PT — Kaepernick’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, says his client was NOT officially invited to the meeting by team or league officials, but is “open to future participation on these important discussions.”

Colin Kaepernick was invited to NFL headquarters to talk about social issues with team owners … but decided not to show up to the meeting, Malcolm Jenkins told the media on Tuesday.

Several players sat down with owners in Manhattan today to discuss ways to promote positive change … and both sides agreed it was a step in the right direction, but there’s more work to do.

“Those conversations will continue. That dialogue will continue,” Jenkins said.

“As players, we’ll continue to do the work in our communities. We feel like that’s the most American thing to do is to use your platform to influence with the stage that we have.”

As for the national anthem demonstrations … Jenkins says it wasn’t the focus of the meeting.

I’M GETTIN’ THE W, SON!!

FYI, Greg’s first pro fight is on Nov. 4 at Rise of a Warrior 21 … and we got the man who’s gonna meet him in the cage — Joe “The Legend” Hawkins — to give us the low-down on their scrap.

Joe’s got nothing but respect for Hardy … but told TMZ Sports he ain’t gonna take it easy on him.

“I’m gonna be incredible,” Hawkins said. “I see the referee raising my hand.”

Kane Added to TLC Main Event After Surprise Return on Raw (VIDEO)

kane return raw tlc main event

“The Big Red Monster” Kane is back! And he’s officially been added to the main event of TLC.

It all went down on Raw during the steel cage match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman after the current candidate for Knox County Mayor interfered by popping through the ring.

Kane then chokeslammed Roman twice before he and Braun took turns beating him up. After that, Strowman won the match and Miz announced Kane would be the final member of their team on Sunday when they face-off against The Shield in a TLC match.

It’s unclear if this will effect his run for Mayor in Tennessee, but it can’t be a good sign.

Watch the video of his return below.
