Deadpool 2 Celebrates Brolin’s Birthday with a Goonies Shoutout

When the Deadpool 2 trailer dropped, many fans were eager to point out The Goonies Easter egg which saw Wade Wilson wearing Chunk’s Hawaiian shirt during a gun raid. Now, the creative team have taken things one step further in celebrating Josh Brolin’s birthday. And you can see the Brand-tastic results below.

Deadpool 2 star and social media jokester Ryan Reynolds has invade Facebook with a playful shoutout to co-star Josh Brolin on his birthday. And it gives us a hilarious piece of promo art. Wade Wilson is putting his Bob Ross-inspired painting talents to good use. He’s had Brolin’s Cable take a seat for a portrait. Only, he’s paining a much younger version of the actor, one that looks like an angry Brand.

Brand was the older bandana-wearing brother to Mikey in The Goonies, who eventually winds up on the adventure of a lifetime. Now, Brolin is the mean-looking Cable, a mutant from the future who has come to the past to help Wade Wilson with his latest adventure.

Starring alongside Cable and the Merc with a Mouth is Zazie Beetz as the luck-manipulating mutant Domino. Jack Kesy, who we last saw in the big screen version of Baywatch, is playing the villain, whom many believe to be the Irish mutant Black Tom Cassidy. Japanese actress Shioli Kutsuna and Julian Dennison are also coming along for the ride.

The official Deadpool 2 synopsis is a hodgepodge of weirdness that is set up as code for what the movie is really about. It states the following: After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor, finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Also returning from the original Deadpool movie are Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus. The movie is coming from 20th Century Fox, and will be in theaters May 18, in what has become one very packed summer of blockbusters. The sequel is currently undergoing reshoots. You can take a look at The Goonies inspired new promo art here, then be sure to jump on social media and wish Josh Brolin a very happy birthday. He doesn’t look a day over, ‘Arrggghhh!’ This first showed up on Ryan Reynolds’ Facebook.

Are John Cena and Nikki Bella Back Together?

Just over a month ago we revealed that WWE Superstars John Cena and Nikki Bella broke up ( you can click here to find out why Nikki Bella broke up with John Cena.)

Since their break-up both John Cena and Nikki Bella have been on a media frenzy, one for her reality TV show, and the other for his blockbuster movies.

John Cena has made it clear in these interviews, that he will stop at nothing to win Nikki Bella back, and it looks like it actually worked.

John Cena and Nikki Bella are finally back on the road to reconciliation!

A source told us that “they’re basically back together.”

“They both got a wake-up call once they canceled the wedding, and they both realized they could fix what was broken,” the source revealed.

“They never stopped talking,” a source told People Magazine. “Other than the actual wedding weekend, when they took some space, they have been talking.”

John had made it clear on NBC’s “Today” show that he wanted to have a family with Nikki and still wanted to marry her. If you watch Total Divas or Total Bella’s than you already know that this is exactly what Nikki wanted to hear.

“He has poured his heart out to her, and she was more than ready to take him back once she heard what she needed to hear,” the source from People Magazine added. “He’s been saying and doing all the right things.”

As seen below, TMZ spotted the couple in San Diego over the weekend, and it looks like we may see the power couple together again real soon for good!

Andy Serkis’ ‘Mowgli’ Trailer: A Darker Look At ‘The Jungle Book’

Andy Serkis’ ‘Mowgli’ Trailer: A Darker Look At ‘The Jungle Book’

With this morning’s trailer debut of Andy Serkis’ Mowgli, we now have a trailer for every major Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc. release for 2018 except for Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s A Star Is Born and James Wan’s Aquaman. I’m guessing we’ll get a Star Is Born trailer (the film opted to forgo Cannes in favor of the more Oscar-friendly Fall festival circuit) attached to Ocean’s 8 in early June. That Aquaman trailer will drop, I dunno, sometime next month with Incredibles 2 or Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom or with July’s Ant-Man and the Wasp just before SDCC?

Either way, this darker, PG-13 variation on Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book is going to have to justify itself 2.5 years after Disney beat them to the punch with a pretty acclaimed and $996 million-grossing version of the iconic story.  Yes, this one is presumably more faithful to the original book than the Disney toon, the 1994 Stephen Sommers actioner or Jon Favreau’s animated/live-action hybrid from 2016. But at the end of the day, it’s still another live-action/animated action drama set in the same general world and stemming from the same source material.

It’ll be an uphill battle, even if this does turn out to be essentially a Jungle Book movie with the tone, mood and flavoring of Matt Reeves’ recent Planet of the Apes sequels. To be fair, this looks pretty spectacular from a purely visual point-of-view. And the animal cast, including Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Eddie Marsan and Naomie Harris among others, is pretty impressive if not quite as conventionally star-studded as Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Walken and Idris Elba. If not for the fact that we just had a variation on this movie from a different studio two years ago, this one would probably be looked at as a much bigger deal.

But this isn’t 1998 where audiences necessarily want two loose copies of the same movie in a short period of time. Heck, even in 2013 there was only room for one “Die Hard in the White House” movie, as the underrated but overbudgeted White House Down fell to the cheaper and nastier Olympus Has Fallen. Of course, a 2.5-year difference is different than a six-month (or less) span between movies. So will audiences feel that enough time has passed in between Jungle Book movies, even if this one does look pretty neat and does feel closer in spirit to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes than Walt Disney’s (occasionally somber and arthouse-ish) Jungle Book adaptation?
