First Man Trailer Sends Ryan Gosling to the Moon as Neil Armstrong
Following the first poster drop earlier today, Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for First Man. Ryan Gosling stars as American icon Neil Armstrong, set in the decade as he prepares to become the first man in human history to set foot on the moon. This trailer was first aired on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight before it arrived online for all to see.
Ryan Gosling takes on First Man, based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by author James R. Hansen, which was published by Simon & Schuster in 2005. The author was a history professor at Auburn University, who first wrote to Armstrong in 1999, asking if he could write a biography about him. Armstrong replied that he was just too busy at the time, adding that he had already turned down offers from prominent authors such as Stephen Ambrose and James A. Michener before him. Still, Hansen persisted, and ultimately sent Armstrong a “goody box” featuring some of his writings, including a biography of aviation pioneer Fred Weick.
It was this “goody box” that convinced Armstrong that Hansen was the right man for the job, and in 2002, he signed a formal agreement along with a letter that revealed he pledged his full support for the biography, and included others to provide Hansen everything he needed to write this book. It was the first ever authorized biography of Neil Armstrong, and while other books had delved into his NASA missions, Fist Man was the first book to address both his early life, and his life after NASA as well.
The cast also includes Claire Foy as Janet Armstrong, Pablo Schreiber as Jim Lovell, Kyle Chandler as Deke Slayton, Ethan Embry as Pete Conrad, Corey Stoll as Buzz Aldrin, Lukas Haas as Mike Collins, Jason Clarke as Edward Higgins White, Shea Whigham as Gus Grissom and Cory Michael Smith as Roger Chaffee. Damien Chazelle (La La Land, Whiplash) directs from a script by Josh Singer (Spotlight), based on an earlier screenplay by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and the original book by James R. Hansen. This marks the first film that Chazelle has directed that he hasn’t at least co-written himself.
First Man has been given an October 12 release date by Universal Pictures, which is in the midst of one of the most crowded months of the year. On its opening weekend, it will only have one direct competitor, Sony’s Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween, but there will be nine more movies arriving on the weeks before and after First Man. Arriving on October 5 will be 20th Century Fox’s Bad Times at the El Royale, Sony’s Venom, Warner Bros.’ A Star Is Born and PureFlix’s Unbroken: Path to Redemption, while, on October 19, five more movies hit theaters, Blumhouse’s Halloween, 20th Century Fox’s The Hate U Give, Warner Bros. Mowgli, Aviron’s Serenity and Annapurna’s Where’d You Go, Bernadette?. And if that wasn’t enough, there will also be Paramount’s Overlord, Lionsgate’s Hunter Killer and Pure Flix’s Indivisible arriving on October 26. Take a look at the first trailer for First Man, courtesy of Universal Pictures, as we get closer and closer to the October 12 release.
Tinsley Mortimer and Scott Kluth Split AGAIN! – The Real Housewives
On again, off again couple Tinsley Mortimer and Scott Kluth have split once again, Us Weekly reports.
The Real Housewives of New York couple called it quits again after only being back together for a couple of months.
Sources say that Tinsley and Scott have “a complicated relationship” and that the two can’t seem to quit each other.
“They talk every single day and still say I love you,” the source explains. “She’s so busy in NYC and he’s so busy in Chicago that they are not exclusive right now because it’s long distance. They’ve done this before, these little breaks. They are both super optimistic they will be able to work it out when their schedules aren’t as crazy … They love each other so much.”
A second source reveals that Tinsley “isn’t telling anyone they broke up” and is hopeful she and Scott can reconcile.
“Scott can’t let go of Tinsley emotionally,” the source confesses. “Tinsley is hanging on, hoping that Scott will agree to marry her.”
Meanwhile, a third source adds that Scott and Tinsley “are friends now, but will get back together.”
The RHONY couple first broke up back in October but were already on the road to reconciliation mere weeks later as Scott popped into NYC to visit Tinsley in November.
By Christmas Tinsley and Scott were officially back together as shown on RHONY.
I’m bummed to hear that Tins and Scott have split once again. These two really need to move near each other and give this relationship a real shot. I’m all for Tinsley moving to Chicago and starting a Real Housewives of Chicago. I mean, how fun would that be?
Thoughts on Tinsley and Scott’s latest split? Are you surprised Tinsley and Scott have split again? Will these two end up together? Do Scott and Tinsley need to move to the same city to make their relationship work?
Distorted Movie Trailer Goes VR with Christina Ricci and John Cusack
The latest trailer for Distorted has been released and it’s a 360 degree experience, allowing viewers to choose what they focus on. The movie stars Christina Ricci and John Cusack and the latest 360 degree trailer is also promoting a unique virtual reality experience to coincide with the release of Distorted, which hits theaters later this month. The VR experience is roughly ten minutes long and was shot using 16, synchronized GoPro Hero4s filmed with the GoPro Odyssey and under Jump, which is Google’s professional VR video program.
Watching the 360 degree version of the trailer for Distorted gives the viewer a chance to look around the set of the movie without seeing any of the crew, which is pretty remarkable. The VR experience producer, Travis Cloyd, says that it was quite the feat to put together the 10 minute feature and keep the crew hidden. Cloyd reveals that they had to get creative while filming the Distorted VR experience, often hiding members of the crew behind walls. He had this to say.
“Sometimes it’s a challenge. You do have to hide the crew because the audience can see everything and everywhere. You have to make sure everyone is hidden so we have people hiding behind walls and whatever our natural sets allow.”
Though the 360 Distorted trailer is just a tease, it does give some pretty interesting hints as to how the VR experience was crafted. To get the footage together, they filmed scenes right after director Rob King filmed the live-action sequences. For those with OneTouch VR on Google Daydream, Oculus Go and Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR, and iOs, you can download the Distorted experience now. It will also be available in stereo 3D on various platforms like the Littlstar app on Sony’s Playstation VR.
Distorted tells the story about a woman who is suffering from bipolar disorder and comes to suspect the proprietor of the state-of-the-art “smart apartment” she and her husband just moved into is using the building’s residents as unwitting guinea pigs for a “synthetic telepathy” brainwashing plot with dire global ramifications. Christina Ricci and John Cusack star in the film and the VR experience, which you can see teased in the 360 degree trailer. It’s only a matter of time before more experiences like this are released to promote films and TV shows, offering a new outlook on the creative process.
Distorted hits theaters on June 22nd, but you can download the VR experience now. It will be interesting to see how far these new virtual reality promotions will go in the next handful of years. The technology is advanced quite a bit in the few years that it’s been available to the general public, so we can expect to see these new experiences coming along with a lot more projects in the future. You can check out the 360 degree trailer for the Distorted VR experience below.
