A Texas Councilman Just Acted Racist While Claiming He Isn’t Racist

A local story went national on local media today, detailing how a Texas councilman up for re-election just dug himself into deeper trouble by fighting accusations of racism, after he posted a picture of an empty tractor trailer with the words, “A photo of all the supplies donated to Harvey relief by Antifa and Black Lives Matter.”

In his response to criticism saying that the meme was both a lie and racist, Schertz City Councilman Robin Thompson said he wasn’t racist because he had worked in a predominantly black church, inexplicably adding:

“Tonight marks the fourth time in my life that I have been called ‘racist’…Forgive the language I’m going to use, but it was exactly what was said to me. ‘We’re firing you because you’re encouraging n****** to drink our water and use our bathrooms’.”

Having already sparked outrage with the spurious Facebook post, he proved his detractors right by using a racial epithet.

Schertz resident Clare Layton said of Thompson posting the meme, “What he did was foster a lie that was offensive, it was incorrect, it was irresponsible and it was demeaning. It embarrassed the council.”

Another resident of the San Antonio suburb, Diana Taylor, said that the councilman’s use of the N-word only deepened the wound:

“I was so offended, I got up and I walked out the door. I slammed the door. I was hurt and I’m still hurt. Racism is something we should not practice,” Taylor said. “I would like to see Robin Thompson resign immediately and I would like to see the support of all the city councilmen.”

But the city’s mayor, Michael Carpenter, did not go further than saying, “”The City of Schertz and its leadership does not condone that sort of language in any manner and he hopes the councilman quickly offers a full and sincere apology.”

Councilman Thompson did issue an apology last night:

I deeply and sincerely apologize for all the embarrassment, hurt and confusion that I have caused to the Schertz City Council, its staff and employees, and especially to all the residents of Schertz through my lapse of judgement in the sharing of an inappropriate Facebook post, and the offensive word I used, even in the context of a quote directed towards me, in trying to explain my mistake last Tuesday night.

These mistakes do not reflect who I am in my inner being, and from this point on, you may be assured that I will focus all my efforts to be the leader you expected me to be when you elected me into office.

But another council member, Dr. Angela Kiser, was non-plussed by Thompson’s words, saying, “Right now what I’m hearing is there should be no consequences, let’s just accept an apology. I don’t know many people who can go before a judge after robbing a bank and say, ‘I’m sorry.’ and the judge says, ‘Hey! Ok, apology accepted. Bye!’”

His post and response are particularly outrageous, in light of the fact that Black Lives Matter’s Houston chapter distributed food to Harvey’s survivors.

Come November, Schertz voters can show that they stand against racism by voting out the offending councilman.

Mom Pokes Fun At Her Brother By Recreating His Modeling Photos With Her Son

Siblings making fun of each other to elicit a reaction is nothing new.

From your looks and what you wear to all your personal interests, brothers and sisters are there to embarrass and humiliate you every step of the way — even when you’re grown up! That’s what New York-based model Aristotle Polites deals with from his older sister, Katina Behm, but at least in her case, all the teasing is good-natured.

Behm loves poking fun at Polites’ modeling photos with her own hilarious (and adorable) twist. With her 18-month-old son, Augie’s, help, she recreates the pictures with the toddler standing in as the model and mimicking his uncle’s poses.

She says it all began when she couldn’t get Augie into his plaid shirt. “The image of him with the shirt undone and his bare chest exposed made me laugh because he looked like he belonged on the cover of a romance novel,” she told HuffPost. “I took a picture and then realized I bet my brother Aris has a picture just like this on his Instagram page which is filled with modeling photos.”

After making family members laugh with the comparison, she started creating side-by-side photos of the two and sharing them on Instagram with the question, “Who wore it better?”

More often than not, her followers choose Augie as the winner.

Veteran, Army Wife, And Mom-To-Be Shows Off Her Insane Powerlifting Skills

Half the time it’s a struggle for me to get to the gym, and I’m fully capable of doing so.

For women who are pregnant, it can be even harder to get up and get a workout in. It used to be common knowledge that pregnancy was a time to relax and take it easy, but doctors now say that hitting the gym has benefits for both mom and baby. Of course, you should always check with your doctor about what exercise routine is right for you, but it’s generally a good thing.

What one veteran, army wife, and mom-to-be is doing to stay fit is totally insane and amazing.

Again, don’t try this at home without a doctor’s permission, but this powerlifting mama is a beast! Wow!

You wouldn’t be able to find me doing this even on my best gym days. I’m totally in awe of her skills.

In An Attempt To Warn Her Daughter About The Upcoming Frost, This Mom Sent A Scandalous Text

Just when you thought that having the “birds and the bees” talk was the most cringe-worthy child-parent conversation in all the world, this concerned mom told us to hold her beer.

When the terrifying hormone monster comes for a visit and transforms your mama’s boys or daddy’s little girls into terrorizing teens, as a parent, just about everything you say or do is embarrassing. Whether it’s dropping your son or daughter off in front of school, or trying to interject the up and coming lingo into daily conversation, parents can’t seem to win when it comes to bonding with their teenage children.

But of all the embarrassing things parents do, nothing can compare to trying to have serious conversations about sex and relationships, especially when your parent is totally oblivious to the fact that she brought up a taboo topic like it was nothing.

Grace is a 23-year-old advertiser working and living in Boston, just a short distance from her mother.

Grace’s mother works as a nurse, meaning the two are often working alternating hours, making bonding time incredibly rare. But while they may not see each other as much as they’d like, Grace’s mom, like most concerned mothers, regularly checks in on her daughter, offering advice as needed.

With a particularly rough winter storm coming their way, Grace’s mom took to text messaging to warn her daughter of the impending “ass eating season.”
