US Withdraws from UN Human Rights Council
Yesterday afternoon the UN Human Rights commissioner called out Donald Trump and his inhumane “zero-tolerance” immigration policies, and more importantly the fact that children are being punished for their parent’s actions.
“In the United States, I’m deeply concerned by recently adopted policies which punish children for their parents’ actions … The thought that any State would seek to deter parents by inflicting such abuse on children is unconscionable.”

Today the Trump administration has done the unthinkable. Just a few moments ago the Trump administration announced that the US was withdrawing from the United Nation Human Rights Council.
Perhaps Trump wants retaliation for the UN Human Rights commissioner’s comments, or maybe Trump has literally just lost his mind. Trumps excuse however cites anti-Israel bias among their reasons for withdrawing.
Following the announcement of Trump’s administrations decision to withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council, an outpoor of dissatisfaction with the announcement was heard around the world.
Monday: The UN human rights chief calls Trump's family separation policy "unconscionable."
Tuesday: Trump plans to withdraw from the @UN_HRC.

By withdrawing from the UN Human Rights Council, the Paris accord and the Iran deal and disrupting the G-7, the Trump administration is effectively surrendering US leadership on the world stage. https://t.co/Aes6w4Uacr

Withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council is Donald Trump’s way of building a wall around the entirety of our country, not just at the southern border. This decision is yet another example of Trump’s fixation on asserting his rights rather than protecting the rights of others. https://t.co/owl2iIi0ET

When I saw U.N. Human Rights Council trending I thought it was bc they have started investigating the humanitarian crisis at our southern border.
